What is the best way to box and ship a drop on powerhead so it doesn't get damaged. Who can ship for the best price? Will be coming from S Carolina to Syracuse N.Y. area.

Take a powerhead pan gasket and make a template the shape of the mounting bolt holes. Cut the pattern in a piece of plywood. Use that as the bottom of your shipping crate. bolt the powerhead down and build a small box around it. You can wrap the powerhead with bubble wrap if your really concerned. I've used Fed Ex ground for shipping. There are others. Shop around for the best price given the price of diesel fuel.

Construct the entire box of 3/4" plywood, using wood screws.I shipped mine from Illinois to JSRE in Texas and had no problems at all.

ditto! build a crate with SCREWS. the only way to do it right. I only use 1/2" ply on mine with a "skeleton" of 2x2 :o

they used to ship engines on a cradle wrapped in cellifane not a good idea:mad: . I guess that's why they call them crate engines now:)
