Not up to snuff on my NY geography but hope no one on this board has any relation to this terrible news. I know there are alot of NY's on here.

My wifes cousin heard something about it. Like 20 people died. I don't know much more. A sad day.

at least 30 dead, and many senior citizens :(

That is a terrible tragedy... my thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved.

Lake George is a couple of hours north of Manhattan.

I just saw the news, I guess 21 dead, 27 alive, but they said 49 total were on the boat so I guess one of those figures is obviously wrong. Very tragic, sad day

The boat was carrying a tour group from the Trenton, MI area"

I was born in Trenton. :D

Very sad to hear about such a loss. Where's the big boat that kicked up the roller? and how does a 40 foot tour boat capsize from a rogue wave?

[i] Where's the big boat that kicked up the roller? and how does a 40 foot tour boat capsize from a rogue wave?

There are several LARGE tourist boats such as the Minnie Ha-Ha (Paddlewheeler) Fond-Du-Lac and the Ticonderoga which is some 130 feet long and does dinner cruises w/ bands and bar around the 32 mile lake.

The "Ethan Allen" is a very small boat and capsized not too far from shore. It was complicated by windows being installed to keep the chill down while fall cruising..... :(

Just saw a news report of this tragedy , very sad , but preventable . Passengers on board should have been asked if they could swim or not and been offered life vests possibly the auto - inflate type . This is so sad to see this loss . It appears , according to what I saw , that plastic lawn chairs were the seating available and slid to starboard in unison after the wake hit the boat . These unfortunate souls weathered many storms during their years , most were elderly , only to die on beautiful Lake George .

boat raised today, seats were permanently attached, not lawn chairs, much misinformation about a tragic ending to a beautiful day.My suspicion is boat may have been top-heavy from side windows used for cooler fall excursions.
