Ive got a 1989 Glastron CSS-16 with a 150 hp XR4. Speedo shows 62 with a Laser 20. Wouldn`t mind getting into the mid 70`s. Ive heard that the transoms aren`t the strongest, although mine has a quarter inch aluminum brace going from the inside transom to the floor. No stress crack at all. If I were to spend the money on more ponies, am I just waisting my time and money because of the boats characteristics, ie. hull, chinewalking tendencies etc. Thanks for your time.

In my opinion you would not get into the mid seventies even if you could build your motor into a 225HP --- and to build your motor into a high horsepower motor is not worth the time or money for that vintage motor.

That hull was designed by Glastron around 1980 and was designed to use the V4 and inline 6's of the day --- horsepoer in the 115 to 140 range.

I think you would find that the boat would be unsafe to drive ( severe chine walk ) as you got close to 70 mph.

Just my opinion.
