Suwannee River Sat. 10/01/05

Takled to Parker and he wants to try to make it all the way to sandy point, without stopping for gas next Saturday! Were planning on putting in closer--Gronto Springs ramp--and heading to the Itchnatuckee. Anyone interested??

Cant do it Mike.Too close to Jasper and the Nascar race in North Carolina the week after that.You know that Itchetucknee river part of the trip never did anything for me.Its too narrow and no wake speed zones.I felt like I was too close to peoples docks and stuff.I got the finger three times last time I went up that far.The guys bass fishing get rocked pretty good when we come by them.I know you and Parker like it though.Hope yall have a safe day.Yall need to start planning the second annual Speed shoot out again for March.That was a great time of year and the air was nice. :)

I can't go either I have a 2 day RC Hydro race at the home lake in Brandon . Great site for spectators in the Dover district park off of MLK and Gallagher Rd . Should be about a 200 boat event .

We are planning another Suwanee run this Saturday, starting at Fanning Springs and running out into the Gulf, Lord willing, but we are taking our PWC and leaving the Grandsport at Home.
We saw all of ya'll pulling out your boats at the Fanning Springs ramp last Saturday while we were on our 'skis. We couldn't stay around to talk much since we still had to make the return trip back to Branford Park before dark. I was on the little Honda Turbo with my Wife along with two friends on their Honda and Kawi.
Did ya'll notice the Cop in the bushes back at the Santa Fe split?

If you go all the way in the gulf, DO NOT go outside the channel after the river splits in the east and west pass. The run through the river going to the east pass, is what I think is the most beautiful stretch of water in the entire state. Very deep until you get to the island at the gulf. Then, don't even trust the channel markers. I hit bottom dead center of a channel in my 18 foot open fish. A side note, the bottom out there is all oyster beds, which is like running up on asphalt. I used to keep a travel trailer in the town of Suwannee for a few years, and spent a lot of time at the mouth of the river. One time, I was running back from Horseshoe Beach. I was at LEAST two miles from the nearest land and hit bottom on my fishboat while on a plane, and I doubt that boat draws more that 18 inches on a plane. Btw, try finding a new prop in Suwannee on a Saturday. :(

Thanks for the tip, I don't need any more hull damage on the Honda than what I've already got to repair this Winter. A couple of Summers back when the water was low, we took our skis "rock climbing" on the shoals North of Branford and eventually made it 33 miles upriver. I had never been white water rafting on a 'ski before. There were lots of repairs [afterward] and we destroyed a SMC hull on a Kawi [which just barely made it back]. I have since accumuled a lot more "dings".
Hopefully we'll be at the Jungle run, but that might be the weekend We are supposed to take a driving school and make a dozen "hot" laps on the Daytona Tri-oval.

parker and i wanna spend some time on tha santa fe , i wanna buy something up there , but he cant make it on gas all the way from fanning springs ? so were gonna put in where tyler does by rock bluff , so we can make it on fuel. we gonna run up to the itchnatucky.

Scully, we probably won't put in at the Rock Bluff ramp--no parking--We'll use the Gronto Springs ramp, where I put in last weekend. It's about a mile from Rock Bluff. Hopefully Parker can make it from there! :eek: :D

I think there is plenty of parking at Rock Bluff. I don't like leaving my truck and trailer at Goronto, I know too many of those loser sob's that hang out there all summer, and they'll break in or just tear stuff up for fun. My gf was born and raised there.

I spoke to Parker this Saturday and he wants to post-pone this. His B-Day is Friday and he feels he'll be in no shape to boat Saturday. I guess we'll come up with another date.
