View Full Version : 300x Oil Injection?

Im having a problem with the oil feed tank (under Cowling) not replenishing. The oil level drops about a 1/4 inch which is enough to set off the alarm after running for extended periods at high RPM.
Im not sure wether this is an oil pump issue, pick-up issue, or a vacume issue in my reseave tanks.
Anyone else having problems like this?

Oil pump is most likely fine. Could be a bad check valve in the block, a pin hole in the oil line, or the O-ring on the inboard oil tank preventing a proper seal. If you would like you can call us at (516)378-0105 and ask for our High Prformance mechanic, Jim Molnar.

I have the same problem too...but it does not happen when the 3gal
resovoir is full??? Only when it drops to below 1/4 of a tank, then I start
to loose suckson...I always carry extra oil...
This only happens with one motor...The other motor never looses prime, even
if the main tank is very low...This is intermittent problem, the hose is brand new, the rubber o-ring on the cap looks good...
I learned to live with this....So I always keep the main tank between full
and 1/2 full...and I dont have to deal with this problem anymore...

the brass fitting that comes out of the block that the pressure goes to , not the one that goes to the tank on the side , the other one , take it off and make sure it is clear .

Ill take a look at the fittings.
I just stopped by my local shop and I was told the oil pump does not draw from the reserve tank, it only pulls from the primary tank (under cowl) and injects into the cylinders.
The reserve tank works by block pressure (Im told). The fitting Jerrry is talking about must pressurize the tank and pushes the oil up the feed tube. If this is true, having everything tight is more important that I initially thought. I was thinking the system might be too tight and I was creating a vacume.
Ill be at the marina Thursday to dig through it.
Thanks for the replies.
I also have extended filler hoses that run up to the deck so I dont have to climb in the hull to fill. Is anyone else doing this? I wonder if this is part of my problem.

The problem I had was the brass fitting on the starboard side of # 5 piston had blown out the check vavle and needed to be replaced. The system was not feeding oil to the reserve tank and the buzzer was going off.

That could absolutly be your problem, try taking the cap that leads to the deck fill off and try using a regular cap on your oil resevior and see if you still have this problem. Like i said if you want us to talk you through any of this you can call us at (516)378-0105 and ask for Jimmy.

I have an extended filler hose and have no problem with it. But i did have a bad check valve last year which stopped the tank from filling.
Get rid of the oil injection before you ruin a good motor!! I had a similar problem. Broken rubber pressure line from the block! Made an awful oily mess under the cowl. You are correct the fitting on the block(opposite side from the vapor separator, I can never remember which is starboard and which is port side) does supply pressure to the remote tank. The oil pump draws from resevoir on the engine.........hope this was some help..........Hal

Topped of the feed tanks under the cowl and ran about 70/gal of fuel through each motor. Levels stayed right where I filled them.
Ill keep an eye on it and report back.
Thanks for the help. :D
