Hi,

is there an easy way to remove the stickers/decals on my new 250XS??

I have been told that it can't been because they are painted "onto" the cowling..!?!?

You should be able to tell if they are decals or not by the edge, even the shine of the letters also. If they are not decals then you would have to paint or gel depending, to cover them...or get a bigger decal. I don't know if 250XS is decal or not. If decal I prefer to use heat and/or mineral spirits. Check out these decal removing threads: http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82837&highlight=decals+stickers+remove

That should work great, just go slow. New stickers usually come off easiest, then wipe off any residue with mineral spirits, alcohol, or naptha then dry it...even diesel fuel will work, then soap the diesel off.

Try Goo Gone.
They sell it at hardware stores, etc...

:) Use WD 40 - It will remove the glue residue and will not harm the paint - just spray it on the area the residue is on , let it sit for a few seconds , wipe off with a soft towel - GLUE IS GONE !

I use a soft rubber wheel specifically for removing decals. It is made by STECK. It is made of very soft rubber, and fits onto a 3/8 drill. I have used this on trucks with gaudy graphics, including a black toyota truck in which had sat in the sun for years with baked on graphics. This wheel will not scratch your surface, and will cost only around $15.

Goo gone works great on gelcoat but will fade some paints and I have even seen it take clear off before. It is a little harsh. To be safe as stated above W-D40 and Ronsanol lighter fluid work great and wont damage the cheapest of paints. Good luck.
