Looking at this CLE without a SM next to it to compair I would have though it was a SM painted black. Water intakes are on the bottom, not sure about the fill plug.
Thanks again

The sportmaster has a much longer nose cone with 3 rectangular intakes for water pick up. If you lay a tape measure on the side of the case from the nose to the rear of the case it should measure roughly 18 3/8" on the sporty. The CLE is not that long and has 4 holes instead of 3. The earlier models had 2 holes. I wouldn't run either one on an Allison.

i have a 2 hole cle and a sportmaster which i have used both on a mirage ski racer. the cle gave me more bow lift which i didnt need. the sportmaster gave me a little better water pressure and didnt blow out as easy as the cle. i certainly like the sportmaster better! running a 4 hole cle may be different. i think i may be better w/the bobs case which i just have to assemble and try. that was just my personal opinion of what it did on my boat, good luck, paul

I got some real good infomation on the allison owners board too. A lot of those guys that are or have run stock CLE's on allisons all had one thing in common. They would blow out around 90mph. The fix for that other than going to a SM is to send to Bob's or to a guy by the name of Titus. Titus changes the nose cone, shaves a little of the bottom fin and adds a toqure tamer. Several allison owers that have had that done are very happy with there CLE's. One thing they said was that an allison likes the tip of the nose 3/8 of an inch below the center line of the prop shaft.
