Who knows or even thinks they know what this motor is? Let me add, this is an original racing motor. The motor does belong on that lower unit. It was made with no cowling so there is nothing missing. Hundreds like it were made, this isn't a one off thing.

Good guesses, but just guesses. The Scott Green Hornet racer had cowls and was definitely GREEN and quite a bit taller. In fact it suffered because it was so tall. It does look a little more like a Wizard on a Quickie, but its not. Something very unWizard on it somewhere.

OK, big hint time:
The company is still in business under the same name.
Second hint: Still makes racing outboards.
Third hint: Not a US company.

I think those 3 clues identify only one company even without the picture as a hint.

I agree 100% with Jim, the mid section (tower) and removable cylinder head look very much like a Hot Rod. What can you go by in the picture to tell it isn't a Hot Rod? The enclosed flywheel and look at the flange behind the carb....it has a reed valve assembly, Hot Rods are crank rotary valve motor.

no, AnthonySS got IT !

It is a 1960 Yamato Model 60.

The tower does look Merc-ish around the cavitiation plate. I think the block looks Merc-ish except for the reed valves and removable head.
