I built my own with steel tubing and a welder. You can rig a large board on a car engine stand and it will also work that way. :)

maybe naplesnippletwister can take a pic of the one I designed and welded up... its aluminum overkill but could hold a verado if i needed it to.

chuck- heres a screen shot of my stand... untill NNT gets off his ass and gets me a real pic :D ;) its mostly 4" aluminum channel, with 4x2 tubing for the motor to bolt to, and a 2x2 tube for a gusset. like i said, overkill, but it will hold a motor any weight, any position, without being tipsy.

An El cheapo automotive engine stand from one of the chains like AutoZone or Advance Auto makes a great engine stand with a short piece of 2 X 12 bolted to it. The 4 wheel one that's about a thousand pound capacity is the one to get and they usually range from 39 to 50 bucks. Sam's usta' sell one that was perfect, but now they've got a Michelin fold up that's a lot nicer stand, but not as well suited for an outboard stand. Most of these stands have the center upright made with an angle tilting the pivot point upward. When these stands are assembled backward, it makes em similar to a transom angle.

Will that hold my 300x. I really only need for this winter. Do not want to spend a ton of money. Not being cheap, just thrifty! :) Chuck.

Yes, if you buy the right one. The 1000 lb capacity ones will easily hold a 300PM. I've got one with a PAIR of 1500XS's on it, and another with an X115 Evinrod and a T2. (both of these have two engines on 1 stand. If you've ever seen the pics of my Formula 1 V8 Evinrude, it's on one by itself, and my T4 Merc is also.

Here's a pic of my F1 V8 on one of the stands like I'm talking about. Because of the additional length of a 300 PM, you'd have to bolt a piece of 2 X 12 upright to the stand.

lol @ 49 bux... that must be some great chinese steel.
i did mine mostly for looks, and the fact that working off of it is like working on a transom.

Does anyone know who supplies Mercury with the blue ones they use.I like the idea of the handles for moving it around the garage. I would buy one if it is not to out of sight. Frank sr

I saw them also, called my buddy at a dealer here. Told me that they are not very safe with a big heavy engine. They don't put anything over 400 lbs. on them. Chuck.

The 'Rude has a long way to go. I bought it in pieces with the powerhead disassembled and some parts missing. I haven't done much with it except for gathering a few of the parts (thanks to Pete Nydol) and sticking the big pieces together for display. It's going in my game room beside the T4.

Stainless steel axels are standard on all models; increasing by 50% the load forces of carbon steel axels.
since when is SS stronger than carbon steel? and for $599 I'll sell you 2 of my 6061-t6 aluminum stands with wheels. LMAO

Bad One , I like your stands they look nice , now add some locking wheels and a slice of 3/8 UHMW plastic on the motor side and BLING ! Nice work .
1bad, I like them too. What would something like that with the wheels tom mentioned cost

fish, honestly I was busting the guys stones and have no clue what mine would cost. I guess around $200 or so, but dont quote me. I scrounged up aluminum that was going into the scrap bin to do mine... lol

Tom... with a 3m pad followed by a coarse cut compound, then fine cut, those things bling right up. I didnt bother on mine. I was thinking about some pnumatic casters with locks bolted to the bottom and it would work sweet. even with that tall inline 6 mounted on it, the stand wasnt the least bit tipsy.
no problem 1bad, I have been trying to find a source for a couple of good stands like the ones you built. I put up a thread a while ago and saw a lot of others also looking (can't say whether they were for real of not). Just curious, that stand is nice. I may will probably what raceman suggested, the price is right.
