Well, the end year boat show in Charlotte NC ended today. So let me share some inside info on what the pulse is for the boating world!
The company I work for, we sell Pontoons, Powerboats, bowriders and cruisers.
The biggest thing going on right now and the buzz is 4 STROKE!!!!
2 cycle engines of any kind or old technology. Boat buyer's who use outboards or at awe of the Verodo, they are a hit. In fishing boats, deck boats and center consoles and the pontoon business. Cunsumers do not what a 2 stroke of anykind. The Honda is still carburated, Fuel injected 4 stroke is it! Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki and Honda are a lock. Evenrude is behind the 8 ball. Even with E-tec they are not wanted.
Me being the 2.5 guy I am, I really see we are dealing with a up hill battle to save the 2 stroke performance engines. In the large boat market, Mercury has gone in the correct direction and done it with a bang! They are the hit.
Mercuiser is a leader in the stearndrive, hands down! The 496HO power plant is the main engine even in the big cruiser market. And the fast boats with the 525.
460 boats at the show, 2 bass boats with 250xs engines, and a few with E-tec's, and a few with Yamaha 2 stroke. Talking with the bass dealer they sold 6 boats all Verodo's!!! He said they are the choice and the 2 strokes are not even considered. He dicounted all his 2006 2 strokes and no bites!
Just look at the future! It will be valve jobs, camshafts, turbo chargers, super chargers. We will have outboards that go rump and bump!
Now, with that said, please understand. Numbers numbers numbers!
4 stroke is were the money is at!!! And the outboard market will put it's focus in that direction.
