I Was Wondering If There Was An Advantage Of Having Two Cooling/pisser Hoses On My 2.5 200 Fishin Motor. And Also How Do I Route The Hoses , Where Do The Hoses Come From And If I Do This Will I Need To Run Thermostats. Any And All The Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated.

If one stops up the other one is open.If you don't run thermostats you will have to put in restrictor washers with a 5/16 hole. You don't wan't your motor running too cool because of wear. Also a little better water flow out top of the head to reduce air or vapor pocket which can cause a hot spot.

leave it stock. a steel bore needs heat to run right.

I have a2.4 175, if stock routing is the same as mine all I did was replace the fitting in one head with a single hose fitting (instead of the double hose fitting in the starboard side) and run the starboard side hose straight down & tee it to the hose from the adapter plate & run a peice of hose down from the tee out under the cowl, one hose straight down from the port side head, may have to alter cowl to get hoses out underneath, seems to work fine
Ibad is right. If you have a two piece adapter you need to run the poppet and t-stats. I would leave it stock unless you are having some cooling or water flow problems. I did the same thing a couple of years ago and after trying different sized washers, clipped thermostats, with poppet /without poppet, one hose coming straight down from the top of each head...etc, I ended up going back to stock cooling to make my motor run right.
there are some FANTASTIC threads here on s&F about 2.5 200 cooling and an article written by one of the best minds in the business when it comes to these motors -john Marles (posts under US1) about 2.5 cooling. do a search, crack open a beer and be prepared to be in front of your computer for a while.

I have always run dual hoses on my 2.2 and 2.5 200 carb motors down here in louisiana with the 5/16 restrictors with no problems. I have 3/8 hose with s/s tubing inserts an the end that comes out the cow to hold the hoses from sliding out.

I was wondering if you're having an overheating problem. If the motor is stock and you have a temp gauge, you probably will run about 147 degrees. As one of the posts suggests, a stock Merc needs a certain amount of heat to run correctly. Too cool is sometimes worse as it will cause cold seizing. I found my stock 2.5 efi motor ran a little above 155 when idling for long periods of time. I replaced the stock 140 stats with 120 stats from Merc. this helped keep the temp down. I wouldn't remove the stats or poppet valve in your motor especially if you have the stock two-piece exhaust plate. My two cents. Good luck.
