I know this has probably been asked in many threads, but I just can't find one that answers my questions?

I have a Bullet 20XD w/ 200 Pro Max, Torque master LU, and I'm having problems setting it up. If anyone has the same setup, I'd like to her what you have (prop, pad height, etc.). I've been talking to a few local ppl and they seem to think I need to stick with a 25" Tempest or Trophy. I'm going to pick up a 26" Trophy in about 2 hours to try out, but I wanted to hear what you guys think.

I'm looking for an all-around setup since I will be carrying heavy loads at times for fishing. Thanks

The Tempest and Trophy are both good props. however for what you are doing with your boat I think you will find the Trophy to be your best all around prop. It will carry a load, give you good speed, and a stable ride in rough water.

You will have to experiment with your setup --- prop shaft height in relation to the pad, jackplate setback, and overall balance of your boat with a typical load. If you have a stock Torquemaster, ie. no low water pickup, then I would start with a height of 2" below the pad. Then you can raise or lower your engine in 1/4" increments to get your best speed for a given load. Also, you must have a water pressure gage to make sure you have at least 12 PSI at WOT; 15 to 20 PSI prefered.

Good luck.

I Think The 26 Trophy Will Be Too Much Prop For Your Setup. I Have A Friend With The Same Hull And A 225x And Can Only Spin It To About 6200 Tournament Loaded.

Yes, from what I've heard, a trophy sounds like my best bet. I picked up a 26 and a 27 trophy yesterday from a guy at a local marina. Probably going tomorrow to try them out.
Another concern that's bothering me is that I'm having issues with my tach currently. The tach reads 7000rpm @WOT with the 25 Tempest, 3.5" below the pad, 74.8mph (gps). Also, I never hit the rev limiter (6750). Maybe the owner before me took the rev limiter out or my tach is off? I'm thinking the tach is off. If the tach is off, maybe the 25 is about right?

From what I can tell, the motor/lu is stock

74.8........ lets see...

indicated 7000rpm..... /1.87..... =3743.31

3743.31 * pitch + 1 for cup... 26=97326.06\

97326.06 / 1056= 92.1 theoretical top speed at 0 slip

10% is 82.9 so tach is mostlikly off.... figuring 10 % slip your rpm is around 6300 give or take... check the pole setting or replace tach if not able to calabrate it..

Just gonna let you guys know how everything turned out.

I got to messing around with the tach today and found out that it was in the wrong position on the back of the tach (pos 3). Put in the right position (pos 4), and everything was correct again. idle was around 750rpm.

After that was said and done, I put on the 26 Trophy and went for a test drive. 75.9mph @wot, 6500rpm, 1.5" from pad w/ 20# water pressure (2 ppl and full tank of gas). Does this sound about right for this setup?

You are close to the optimum setup for your boat and what you want to do with it. Others with Bullets , the same horsepower, and a chopper type top end prop are getting 79 - 80 MPH.

But your setup is a good for all around fishing and cruzing with that four blade prop. If you still feel you want to experiment more; I would try raising the motor another 1/4". Keep an eye on your water pressure and if you still can get at least 15 PSI at WOT you are OK. You may pick up another mile or two. Bullets are a very efficient hull and slight changes in setup can give you good results!!!!

Good luck.

I just bought a hydromotive prop quad iv outboard cut for a Allison from todd. It works wonders on my Allison you should give him a call, I know he cuts a outboard prop for Bullets too.

Yeah, I raised the motor 1/4" after I replied yesterday and got 76.8mph(gps) 15# pressure. I think I'm gonna leave it alone for now. I'm currently the fastest boat in my bass club, so that's all the satisfaction I need. :)
Thanks Jimbo!

not bad for overall fun usages....with different props and usages in mind there may be more but the top gun in the club is worth somethin and the fact she aint to quirky yet to get those speeds has to be worth sumethin... good job.
