Outboard School?

Is there a website or books available to us newbies that teach the basics on the outboard motor? I recently purchased a 1987 20' Open Bow Lavey Craft w/ a 150 hp Merc. I have so many questions and feel kinda foolish askin the same questions that you guys have seen over and over again. I am currently seeking knowledge/advise on Jack Plates, Steering and over all performance.

some local colleges teach an outboard repair class. I know of one in allentown pa. Maybe you can contact a school near you.
