thats a decent price for that car, as long as it isnt rusted to hell... but remember you are getting yourself into a project with it. sounds like a head gasket to me, rickracer will know more on that.

PS- most guys I have seen pay $400-$1000 for a 3rd gen project, depending on condition.

whats the VIN number? that will tell if it is an original 350 or not...

Yea vin is the easiest way. Heres a good site on how to decode it.http://pageperso.aol.fr/sdgreyefdbv/section+technik/3RD+GEN+F-body+vin+decoder.htm If not, crawl under and look up under the drivers side, right in front of the motor mount. If you also want to, you can remove the alternator, and there is a stamping on the block to see if the block is original. Go to www.thirdgen.org for more info. IMHO these cars have a great bang for buck. You can buy em' cheap and have a fast feeling car, then dump some money into them and actual go fast. The ebay thing might not be a good idea. It looks like your gonna have to put some money into it, and the resell is not very high, although climbing on these. BTW if you were only closer, I'd have a nice cheap complete 305 tpi for you :o

i throught it was a decent price... it is a project no doubt and you 2 know ur projects! that engine swap thread is kool... 1 bad hows the action? any pics of it in the water?
my plan was to buy the car change the head gasket get it running strait and sell it as is on ebay... i would try to make 300.00 on the deal tops was just wonderin if ya think it would go for 7-800 on ebay? i see a smoked v6 on there now for 450... so im figuring with the v8 i could get a little more cash? just kinda kickin it around need a second opinion... dont really need a second car haha or a second pontiac none the less

thanks guys... ill check that vin for shure

Kevin, if the engine is solid and requires only minimal work, it's worth it. I could be wrong, but I think the L98 350 TPI was only available as an option in the Trans Am GTA in 1987.

I forget the engine code for the L98 - you can easily find it on the web. 305 or 350, both could be good projects. Just don't beat on it too much :)
