Who makes them, and what do they cost?
Do they really work for boating as well as they do in the automobile?
I am looking to get a helmet setup and want to get a helmet neck restraint of some sort to help with the neck snap or neck injury part of it.

What do you guys think? Where to get it at?

Attached is one but no clue where to get it and how much.

Thanks

Trey

That looks exactly like mine from Lifeline, they also have the neck collar that is needed as well.

I've got a Lifeline, about 80 bucks.

How does it function? Seem like if needed it will keep your head from bending violently? I am looking to get two full setups. Already have the standard lifeline jacket, and now looking to get into helmet setups. So looking for opinions too.

Thanks

Not opinons on not wearing a helmet to wearing a helmet those pluses and minuses.

But the Hans device requires a safety harness to work properly.

I would check with the good Drs. at Hans. It might not need a belt system if used with a lifeline jacket. The last time I looked into the subject - for car racing- the laternative was a strap arrangement that fitted much lower down on the torso. THe theory I was given was that it would move a bit more with the spine and therefore allow more gentle acceleration and deceleration of the spine and neck. The Hans is a more rigid system with the carbon fiber support resting on the shoulders and in turn being held down by the shoulder harness and I think the sternum strap. . I don't know if the Hans would fit under a Lifeline jacket.

IIRC the Hans is ment mainly to limit forward movment. I would think in an open cockpit boat you would want one that limits all directions of movment.

IMHO= Either the LifeLine or the SRP (Security Race Products) are the best!

Don't cheap out on anything less! Your HEAD is worth it!!!

Get the three point for an open face,, and a 4 point for a Full face!!!

SDBA (NDBA rules) will be requiring helmet restraints on ALL Helmets in 2006! And they will also be requiring them to be designed for MARINE use!!!
