What is the difference between a Vector and a V-king, They look about the same but I'm assuming the pads of the hulls are different ? And if thats so which one is faster ?

The Vector is 17'1". The V-King is 17'9". The Vector has a concave pad much like a waterski if it has not been filled in. The V-King has a flat pad. If the boats still have thier Coast Guard tags the Vector was rated for 145 hp and the V-King at 175. For more info check out www.hydrosteam.org. Go to the catalogue section. As for which one is faster, the debate continues. In perfect conditions for all out speed the Vector may have the upper hand. In less then perfect conditions for handling and cornering the V-King is probably a better choise.

The lifting strakes on the underside of the hull are arranged
differently on the V-King. There's a very noticable difference when
put side-by-side. ;)

Unless you happen to have a tape measure handy or look at
the capacity tag.

Besides looking at the bottom of the boat, look at the deck, near the transom. The buttresses that are on each side of the transom well are rounded at the top on a Vector, and flat at the top on a V-King.

Hi,
Am I missing something here. Isn't the easiest and surest way to just check out the HIN (Hull identification number) ??
WSJR1, check the hydrostream site for decoding the number..
Have fun,
Gerben

HI,
Actually the HIN is the correct way.....but, I have an 87' Vector and I always see pictures of the V-king. Most of the pictures are of the boat in the water, and in that case the two look very similar I was more looking for performance diffs....and now I seem to have the just of it, either fill the hook or leave it , I had heard of this before but have not bothered to blueprint the hull so I have not really checked into it yet. I guess thats another subject.
Thank everyone for your responses.:)

the vector pad is 1/4 inch narrower than the viking if you turn both over side by side you will see small changes to the viking it will carry weight and speed a little more stable. not that the vector is not fast just running more on the edge when up in the hi 80s low90s. knowing that by saying the pad on a vector is concave and not on a viking. the vector needs bottom mods!!!
