Need to decode OMC serial number...

I know you can put in your serial number for a Merc over at mercurypartsexpress.com, but is there a smiliar site for OMC?

I'm looking at a V8 block with serial G1516511 and I'm trying to figure out what it is.

Unfortunately no, that's the problem. The numbers off the plug at the back of the block are: 36APPHD G1516511

I was hoping to figure out what it is from that.

Looks like what you have is a "Sea Drive" powerhead.
It's listed as a 3.6L 1987. :cool:
