My boat (1988 Sleekcraft SST) got knocked off trailer last Monday by an at fault driver. Engine is a Merc 2.5 carb with a 20 inch mid (needs a 15 for perfection),Bobs nose cone and low water pick-up.Skeg hit pavement and was bent to left. I know I will need a trailer for sure. How would you approach this skeg problem? Is it repairable

SKEGS ARE NOT REPAIRABLE, at least not for a boat that goes over 40 mph ;)
Get a new housing and swap parts if not damaged, otherwise make it a part of your insurance claim and go NEW :D :D
Check for extent of damage to the mid section, ram and tilt pins before you settle

Take it to a respectable prop shop and let them be the judge, I agree that skegs on most hi-perf applications should not be repaired or straightened, we have repaired hundreds if not thousands of skegs in the last 20 years, most on bass boats that run between 60 & 80 mph, just as your Sleekcraft, these boats do not add excessive side pressure to the skeg as other hi-perf rigs such as stv, bullet, allison, mirage & a lot of others, they should be able to repair it with no ill effects.
Just my opinion,
Lee
