I have two complete systems. One from an 84 2.4 fishin mota with the black timing box that sits on top and one form an 86 Bridgeport that has no black box. Both systems work fine and I am wondering if I should stay with the original electronics or switch to the BP electronics. I am just finished with the Hi-perf rebuild of this 2.4 and all I have left to do is bolt the electronics on and a couple small things and in the water it goes. Any suggestions ?????????? One more thing , this engine will now spin at 7500 with around 245 HP.

If you are going to turn 7000 rpm and above then you should run the bridgeport electronics...because the switchboxes are designed for it (if they are original). To check, measure the resistance between ground and the White/black terminal on each box. The racing boxes will be around 9000 ohms, the standard boxes are about 1400 ohms) Be sure both boxes measure the same. Leave the spark advance module box off...you don't need it.
If you need to replace any of the electronics, CDI makes special high rpm stators and switchboxes and I would recommend them.

Its not really a - need to- so much as a - should I- . I was leaning toward the BP electronics because the engine was rated for 7500 and my fishin mota was rated for 5800. I will check the ohms readings. My main concern was that the fishin mota was very drivable and user friendly and I dont want to loose that.
