VMAX rigging

I have an 89' 2.6 Excel that just smoked and was looking at a 98' VMAX. Will the controls and cable from mine work on the VMAX? Somebody clue me in

as far as i know they are the same... and should be a direct blt on

depending on the year of v-max's i would have to check at work i work for yamaha but i dont think the new would work but dont hold it against me let me check i will post again on tuesday

The main 10pin harness is the same. The instrument harnesses and oil tank harness is different. 93-94 is when they changed. There are also adaptors for this but you may think about updating everything.
