On the mercury optimax motor, some are designated "saltwater". What does that really mean in terms of performance etc. It is ok to use that motor exclusively in fresh water? Thanks. Im lookin at a 225 Merc Optimax saltwater edition to match to my new Checkmate 2100

I called my merc rep just for you. :o
Gary said there is nothing different just the color of the decals and maybe a flushing attachment on the cowl to flush the salt out of the powerhead.
He said in his parts microfish, there is NO parts that list "saltwater" series.

I believe the salt water version is only available in a 25" only and you dont want that on your Checkmate. you need the 20"

Just checked and the Saltwater series(blue) is 25" or 30" , you need the red series which is 20"

salt water has a flushing attachment on the back of cowl, blue decals, XL or XXL shaft... SALESMEN will tell you that there is differences in the metal makup witch is UNTRUE there are 20" Saltwater available in the 200 EFI and smaller sizes but there again the difference is decals...if you have a blue boat and want it to match order a 20" saltwater.. otherwis just get a red one and order a set of blue decals...

Is the boat for sale also? How did that set up work?

I was looking at a Pulsare 2100 BR with a Opti 225 but am debating going with something with some more get up and go.

Where on L.I. are you?

AJAK,

I just sent you a private message. The boat along with four others, are all for sale. The 20 Pulsare bowrider is at my home in Northport, and the other four are at the dealership in Merrick.
