I have my 2.7 heads to put on my 3.0 Looper. I'm also going with a set of Bosen reeds as mine have never been changed. With upping the jets two sizes, as Racer suggested, I'm looking at a set-up simular to a 250HP? I'm just wondering if, and how much, grinding and polishing makes much of a differance? I did a search on some posts and some people have done it to their Loopers along with some exhaust work? I don't want to go into the porting mods until I see what these mods will do.
Right now, with my 1300# hull, hydr jackplate, Bobs Nose Cone, Stepped Hull with 6" notched transon for a total of 12" of set back, and a 25" powertech four blade prop I'm turning nearly 5600 RPMs. I put all this in case I read that it needs to be factored in? I know I need to pick up about three or four hundred RPMs?, more RPMs + more speed? My last resort would be blueprinting the prop!
PS, What does plugging the Air? Relieving exhaust do??

....if they are, you'll want to do some casting flash and parting line cleanup. There may be a few other little tricks you could do too, without creating a finicky monster. Clean up any sharp edges in there that look like they may disrupt smooth flow, but DO NOT polish in the intake side. You want a 80 to 100 grit finish in there to help keep the fuel in suspension. Be sure to lap your reed blocks too, again if they are anything like the old X-flows, they are nowhere near flat, and they will seal much better after lapping.

Thanks Rickracer, Yea I saw that mentioned about the sanding and the seating. Do you know what size the stock jets are? And do you carrie the ones I'll need, two sizes larger? If not are they easy to get to so I can pre-order them? Will I see much change when all is said and done, tourqe, rpm, and top end?

I can't say for sure how great your power gains will be, but I can almost promise they will bring a smile to your face. racer could probably answer your questions with much more specific information, having been there, done that, and bought the T-shirt.

He filled me on a lot, that's why I'm going with the heads and the jetting. The reeds, Bosen, I didn't ask about. Nor the intake, though his info phantlet he sent me went into why stock manifolds are not made as good as they can be? I'm also sure that when all is said and done the Starflite should really fly! :D That is until I blow it up! :D Then it goes to racer for the porting and all his other tricks that should give me a solid 270-275 HP!
I'll get in touch when I order the reeds, I believe you sell them. Not sure when, I may deciede to do it myself this fall. Need to get manual first and look at ti before I decide! !
