I have a 1973 johnson 115 that I want to be able to monitor my water pressure. Were can I run a pressure line to? I can drill and tap a hole just need to know were it would be best to do. I have no idea about what runs were inside my 115. Thanks a lot and any pics/info would be great. Zach

I did mine last year, I can take a picture of where I did mine when I get home tonight. I practiced on a junk block I had laying around before doing it on my running engine. It was not to hard to do.

looking at the back of the motor, you want to do it at the top of the exhaust cover. but TAKE the cover OFF before you do it. you dont want those metal shavings floating around in your motor.

Here's were I did mine, just above the bypass cover on the side of the cylinder. Its not real thick, probably just over 1/4" thick.

This is a cylinder with the head off you only drill through the outside, DO NOT DRILL INTO THE CYLINDER!!!! I used a shop vac to suck up the metal as I drilled and tapped.

Would I be better to do it on the back of the motor by the exhaust becouse I am going to be takeing the exhaust off anyway to replace it with the bubble back? Which of the two places you guys dicribed would be better? Thanks Zach

I have a spot on my bubble-back that needs to be drilled for pisser & pressure guage. But I like the spot Paul has his in.

My exhaust cover didn't have that boss. Laker told me where to put the fitting (i think). I think if you have the exhaust cover off it would be easier to put the fitting on it.

So I can also run a pisser tube off of that same hole? So that i can visibly see that it is getting water? Wouldn't it just send all the pressure there instead of sending it to the gauge for a reading? Thanks Zach

I don't have a pisser hooked up in my system.

I looked at my bubble back and it already has the hole in it and taped for the pressure gauge. Does anyone ever run a temp gauge on these? Thanks a lot guys

you can run the pisser and gauge, the pressure reading at the gauge will just be lower. i run mine with no pisser, theres no need for it when you have a gauge.

If you run the pisser off of the gauge hose, it will just show less pressure. I'd restrict the pisser a little, I.E. smaller size tube. It will affect the gauge reading less, and consequently squirt harder.

what should the pressure be at if i run just the gauge and no pisser?

Maybe 15~20 with a pisser.
