I got an 03 Expedition 5.4 that needs a wake up call. Im wondering how those power programers work? any particular ones better than others? I know these things are designed to run on crap gas so they have to be detuned to some extent. I see the new ones are over 300hp. maybe I should just trade it in:(

I don't know to what extent your willing to go to, but I saw a test of your vehicle with a tamed level Kenne Bell roots type and the report was impressive.... It had abrupt torque right off idle... The Editors stated that when the peddle got stomped, the boost gauge jumped before the accelerator got to the floor...

i have the hypertech unit for my lightning, it doesnt do much of anything hp wise, however i can adjust shift points and adjust the rev limiter.

most of the lightning crowds consensus seems to be get it dyno tuned professionally. the tunes that come with the programmers can be somewhat dangerous especially the older programmers (they cause the engine to go lean or ping alot)

And talk to Jim Sommers.( Member of Here)
I've been to there shop and they make some wicked blower set ups.
He had a F-150 5.4L that was bad ass truck with the blower on it.

Helm,
If i were to get a programmer, I'd go with the Diablosport Predator. You can upload tunes from thier website for more power or have a dealer custom tune your vehicle via the programmer or just answer a few yes or no questions, it gives power gains on REGULAR fuel as well as premium, It has ALOT more flexibility and adjustablity than the Superchips Micro Tuner or Hypertech Power Programmer in my opinion, I've had experience with all 3 units and the Predator is by far my favorite.

Go to some of the Lightning forums and you can find used Eaton blowers that guys have after swaping to the Kenny Bell.Get the chip and the blower with an intercooler and you will be good to go :)

Helmut,

I had an 03 Expy with the 5.4 and now have an 05 with the new 5.4. The new 5.4 is able to develope 300 horsies due to redesigned heads. It is a 3 valve per cylinder vs the old 2 valve per cylinder. My old one was pretty much like yours, the new one is 5.4, 4x4 with 3.73 LS differentials front and back, and it has a great deal more get up and go than my 03 had (and it was 4x2). The 05 gets 1-2mpg better on average and pulls the boat like a dream.

The Predator is a nice unit and what I would go with. One of my customers bought one with the software for his Powerstroke, and all I can say after driving it was holy chit!! It was a completely different vehicle.

I found out about the new 300hp engines in the 05's. Im not wasting my time on this one. I'll give it some time then just trade up.

Here's tha man! (http://www.alternativeauto.com/)

Lidio is definitely the guy to hook you up.

I just got my xCalibrator with his tune for my Marauder. Instant power and the less conservative shift pattern is the the ultimate improvement. Burns second shift now.

Do not get a generic tune from anybody else, they are not the same. This guys knows his $hit.

The xCalibrator II is also a real-time data logger (60/sec) and code reader. It's BY FAR the hottest item for Ford modulars. You can download the tune to your pc and fine tune it yourself.

I just noticed, he may not have a tune for the expedition. I would definitely call him.

Adrenalin showcases Ford's plans to produce in 2007 the first sport utility pickup truck offering the combination of uncompromised utility, four-passenger capability, all-wheel drive and true high performance. Along with the Ford Shelby Cobra GT500 – which will go on sale in 2006 – Adrenalin continues SVT's product momentum that has been growing since the acclaimed Ford GT super car went into production for 2005.

With a supercharged 390-horsepower V-8, the first six-speed automatic ever featured in an SVT vehicle and an SVT-tuned fully independent suspension, Adrenalin promises the acceleration, agility and utility that helped make the SVT F-150 Lightning pickup the best-selling, longest-running performance truck ever.
