I'm looking for some input as to what GPS has the nicest looking mounting system available for on top of the dash, and also has nice big numbers for easy reading at a glance. Nothing fancy as far as co-ordinates or mapping is required.
There just seems to be too many to choose from without first asking my Scream and Fly family. :)

The best of both worlds. Garmin Etrex VISTA. It's small, has several "cool" mounts available, and has a "big number" display mode (see below.)
This unit also has all the neat mapping capability, you can hook it up to the computer and load lake images and depth charts into it, it has a magnetic compass, and a barometric altimeter, for God's sake. If you don't need all the crazy stuff, the simple features are simple to use. They sell a Vista-C "color" display version of this unit now as well.

You can make the numbers big enough on that thing for the boat behind you to see.

I use a Garmin GPS 72. It's a great little unit for the money. It is vertically oriented vs. the horizontal like the GPS V, 176C, etc. I like that it saves the max speed in decimal form even over 100 mph. Some of the smaller ones round to the nearest mph.

Thanks guys, I'm taking my speedo (water press) out of my dash to put in a dual EGT and didn't want to put another hole in the dash, so the GPS sounded like a good plan. There's just so may to choose from that I'm sure some of them will come up as favorites for a few people for a good reason.
Keep em comin............. has anybody seen one with red anodized holding bracket?

Go to Rex Marine and get their GPS speedo head by Auto Meter, fits standard 3 3/8 hole it costs $135.00 then go to any gps site pick up the garmin receiver for it at $150.00 (or buy it at their site for $205.00) and mount it under the deck and you got a complete package. It costs a little more but it sure looks nice. I think some of the other gps speedo units like Livorsi are well over $400.00.

the Garmin gps3 does 10ths over 100mph also. you just have to flip to the trip computer page to see it.

If you just want speed etc the simple stuff... I picked up one of these today at a Pawn Shop for 35.00 out the door. Works perfect and not a scratch on it.

I had a garmin 72 and upgraded to 60c for a couple of reasons. Battery life is 36hrs amd 56mb of memory. Most have much less batt life and memory. I have detailed street software and bluecharts for my reginon which has detailed navigation, reefs, markers, fuel, pretty much everything.

I use it in the car, when I travel for work, and for the boat. If you just want speed display, than it might be a little overkill, but I bought mine just for speed and found I was using it for much more and needed to upgrade.
