Just got my powerhead back from Rex...it's a modified 200EFI. I'd be guessing if I gave an actual hp figure...maybe 230...don't really know yet. The motor's on a 21' Hydrasports bass boat with a Merc Paralift jackplate. Dry weight on the boat is 1150 and I usually run it light other than having a full tank of fuel (50gallons) - don't carry insane amounts of tackle. Anyway, the 200 is completely new to me. I had a 2.0 150 on the boat that was turning a 23p Tempest to 5700 rpms with my usual load. That was giving me about 58-60 mph depending on conditions or load. I've run a couple of other props on the boat - a 24p Turbo(came with the 150) which was pretty much crap and a 23p Trophy. The boat ran by far the best with the tempest - it ran much flatter with lots of stern lift (doesn't take much lift to get the bow up on the boat).
ok...I was thinking in the ballpark of 25-27p for the new prop i'm gonna put on the boat. I'd been thinking trophy or tempest, but I'm interested in something a little more exotic. Any thoughts on some other props that might run good on the rig? Need a good holeshot, but not at the complete expense of top speed...looking to be turnin around 6500rpms on top.

.....Is going to probably be your best bet.I have A Gambler,I too wanted a racier looking prop, bottom line- it's a heavier boat(yours) @1150 dry,but with the work you had performed you should try a 25 or 26 trophy plus, your rpm goal should be close, and you won't sacrafice a thing I would think, you'll have good hole shot plus be running 75 or so.As with anything the set up/prop selection is the most important thing, make sure your mounts are good and all safety stuff is in line and working.Trial and error will be your next stage, have fun with it.

Chris,
That's what I was thinking, just want to explore other possibilities too. I've heard some good things about the ole shooter props, i had a predator eagle at one time that was a bada** prop too. I heard some good things about the spinelli and mazco props at one time. I guess I'm a little ahead on the safety stuff. While I had the powerhead off I swapped to 260 exhaust (not that that has anything to do with safety) and put in solid mounts....have seastar pro steerin too.

You will find that in the end, you will more than likely end up with 2 or 3 props you really like that will run well on your rig,I was just giving advise on what I have gone threw, the 4 blade props seem to carry the load better, and less steering tork, while the 3 blader's run a little quicker, all in all I think a trophy plus or mazco hp-4 you will be VERY happy all around with.Good Luck!

Thanks Chris...I think we're on the same page. My experience with the trophy and tempest was pretty much the same. Now if I can just find a prop!!!! I guess I've been too absorbed in the motor cause I just started thinkin about the prop...it's kind of an important part...hahaha.

I have purchased props from this site and have had great success,as alway's just make sure you know what your getting before you send the money, also I alway's like to run the same prop( the one you have now) after mods have been done,it kinda gives you an idea of where you need to go from there.Again good luck to ya.
