Blake and one of his buddies came down and I think made more combined drag passes than anyone else!!! Was very cool!

One of the most impressive runs of the year to be sure.

I will be entering the GPS runs my self for the first time ever too. Never had the time and the boat and the same time before.

Went out with a buddy of mine on the river(Illinois) He said his boat wasn't running right and he wanted me to go. Shocking enough nothing was wrong. I also was working on my boat trying to get it ready in time for the next KDBA race. I missed out on 66 I missed out on Blarneys. But I got a lot of stuff done. One of these days i'll get up to Blarneys. Probably won't be able to pry me away from there after that too.

well, looks like I'm sitting Rumble 05 out. After all my rotten luck lately, with college, and my best friend getting killed in Iraq, things somehow managed to get worse. I had my Mirage out sunday, on my birthday, to get some more break-in time on the "A motor" and it came home on the tow rope. Blown up, 2 cylinders, and it's not my motor, this is my dad's back up motor for his QuarterMaste, and my motor is still in pieces :(

When I get bummed about smoking a motor I always rmember meeting Viper Ronnie at the Rumble the first time and seeing his winch bolted to the bed of his p/u for swapping motors in the field :eek:
He "taught me" then and there (after he smoked a p.head) that you get over it and move on. He spent about 2 minutes being bummed (while walking up the hill to get his truck/winch) before tearing into the motor.
Had it running with another p.head in an hour or two :D

P.S., remember all the stories and hurdles all the people have gotten over to make the Rumble for the last 5 yrs.

Well said Gary......look at last year when I popped a piston in the Xflow. Everyone jumped in to help out, we burned up the phone lines to find one and still ended up not getting one. At that point the only thing we could do was start drinking beer :p Got it home and was back up and running by the next weekend. The point is if you love high performance outboards you get your ass to the rumble with or without a boat!!!!!...........Brad.

I think it was the year before that that Lloyd from Fla popped a looper and it was Merc guys that got him back on the water with used pts from Uncle Tony's local shop :D

When I was running things at the Rumble that was one of my favorite things.
The guy that thrashed the hardest, longest, helped the most people, loaned pts etc.
I remember the 1st yr the Rumble was in Carrollton and Charlie and Delaware Rick showed up and neither of their boats were done.
Charlie thrashed for two days straight in 100* heat to help get Ricks boat done before even starting on his own!!
Last year he did almost the same thing helping Travis and his dad figure out their V-8 while still trying to get his "Igloo" boat done.

I'll be doing the same thing this year it looks like. I'll be just getting the boat done with enough time for break in to run some guys at the rumble. The Daytona is running. It has some gauge issues but thats another project.
I have to get the Merc going on the LTV quickly.

Lastyear my dad had the Quartermaster there and I towed Kevin's (Beko21) boat for him. My Mirage wasn't there. This year it's done, looks great and all..except the heads hanging off the block, lol. Give me a ring about the SS2000 anytime, try to make it after 12pm if you can. :)

Satus report: The back-up drag motor of my dad's that I blew up during break in is off the mid and on the floor as one whole unit now. Builder says don't tear it down, he'll go through every possible thing. Howevever, he is finishing my S3000 now, but no gaurentee when it will be done for me to break in and tune.

Doesn't look like I'm going to make it guys. Was planning to, but a couple of things came up. First and foremost, I got a promotion at work - which is the good news. I'm moving from sales into purchasing. The job involves purchasing steel from our mills in Austria and Brazil. A fantastic opportunity. Problem is my first day in the new job is Monday, August 1st. I really can't afford to have what will undoubtedly be an exhausting weekend, drive 7 hours back in July heat pulling the boat, not sleep, and then walk into the new job on Monday morning.

And secondly, a good neighbor and friend is getting married July 29th. I typically have no interest in weddings, but hopefully some of the bride's cutie friends and relatives from southern Illinois will be there. :D

Sorry, will catch up somewhere along the line. By the way, a room just opened at the Days Inn for Friday and Saturday night.
