I flew up to Bucyrus Ohio a couple weeks ago to check things out at the Checkmate factory. Got the full tour. This place is HUGE. There was about 40 boats under construction. The place was very clean and seemed to be very organized. These are about the straightest and best finished boats I've seen. They even let me tape out a 21ft Pulsare longdeck with my own design to put on my personal boat. How cool is that? I thought about what I was gonna do over the last week or so, and went ahead and ordered three new Checkmates. One is for me, and has some custom stuff and no rigging. I'm gonna do some neat stuff on it and put a 300x on it. I've been told to expect 92-93 mph.
I'm in Daytona Beach, Fl. I was told the nearest dealer was in St. Louis, Missouri. Anyone wanting a new Checkmate, Give me a call. Here's a few pics from the factory. The first pic is only one of 7 or 8 buildings. They do all their interiors too. I ordered a custom one.

I have been a checkmate fan for years. I bought a new MX 15 back in the 70's. I was the first guy around here to rig a center steer boat. 75 with an in-line six Merc back then was bookin... Enjoy!

Yeah, it should be fun. I officially gave up body work last month after 28 years. I've gotten so busy with the Liberators, I decided to do it full time. The 21ft Checkmate Pulsare I've got for myself, is white with red/black, and silver metalflake stripes. I'm gonna do some cool rigging on it with an 800 watt stereo and a 300x. Gonna be a great demo boat.

I was gonna say you would work yourself out of the body shop, but it looks like you're already there. It is really great to be able to make your hobby your business. Best of luck!

Yup, always liked doing the custom stuff. Here's my latest. I'm rigging it this week with a 300x

Congrats on the Checkmate dealership. They make a good boat and I'm sure there is a market for them in the FL area.

I know you would probably prefer to move a few boats instead but I need a tarp for a 2004 checkmate 1600BR. I called number on their (cehckmate) website a few times and sent a couple emails. ANy suggestions?
Thanks

That 18 Liberator sure looks familiar.

(It must be the baby brother to that other Flamer boat I've seen before.)
