I just got back from Power Tour. We had a great time, but it was either raining like heck or hot, I mean really HOT. We had fuel pump problems in 4 of the cars we brought just becaus of the 102 degree temps. One of the cars we took was 66 Mustang with a fuel cell, we had to load 10 bags of ice on top of the fuel cell to keep it cool enough to get to the next stop; where we changed the in tank fuel pump in the parking lot of the hotel. After that whenever it started to get hot and we sat in traffic we loaded ice in the truck just to be safe. Then the 67 Chevy 2 we brought lost two fuel pumps one as we headed into Springfield, IL and the the second was the next day going into Indy. Each time we had to overh night a new pump to the hotel and change it the next morning. One thing I learned was how importanyt it is to have the pump cotroller when you're in bad traffic, it lowers the voltage to the pump so that it moves less fuel when the engine is idling and cruising at a low speed. Other then that we had great time, met a lot of great people and Suzette and the kids met up with us in Birmingham, Al and ran with us to the next stop, where I had to head back from. Due to a project we are working on with a really tight schedule I came back to work on it. Since time was tight our group from work left last Wed to head up to Milwaukee, WI and I flew up to meet them Friday night. It was great they brought ALL of the cars through the airport just to pick me up. You should have seen it, eight wicked cars pulling through the airport, it sounded like a jet was landing in the pick-up area. Talk about attention! I even had a pretty good flight there were only abnout 20 people on the flight.
