Hi,

I use a SeaStar Pro front mountd steering zylider with an Capilano Helm.
But there is now ~3mm play on zylinder.

How I can reduce that play AND IF how much play will be leave...

Thanks for information :)

Heres the easiest way i found....takes two people. Have one person manning the steering wheel and able to fill the helm full of fluid if necessary. Have the other at the back of the boat.

turn the steering wheel all the way to one side. Crack the bleeder screw on the side in which the wheel was turned to. (Turned right, crack right bleeder screw. Now have the back guy hold the motor in place as hard as he can while the steering guy turns the wheel back to the opposite side, in this case the left. The motor will still turn, but him holding it just helps to get the air out. Once it gets about 3/4 cylinder travel or so have the guy let go of the motor and close bleeder. Now do the same thing for the other bleeder screw and line.

***Makes sure that the fluid level is high enough and doesnt gulp air!!!!!

I did this on my seastar pro and it worked really well for me.

Thanks Ryno, I'll try that way. :)
How may play you now have at your SeaStar Pro. On mine was 10mm+ play thats why I changed the helm....

i have it down to about 1/4" or less. Probably more like an 1/8". They also have an "allison type" cylinder ram that is suppossed to be even better for less play, but when i get mine all bleed out the steering response feels just like a dual cable to me, but i havent driven it yet. I will let u know how i like mine.
