I bought a 1 piece cowl for a 2.5 complete with brackets off one of the guys here and now I am stumped. I want to put it on a 1988 2.0 that currently has the clam shell. I see how the rear bracket goes, no problem.

I think I see where the front bracket should be but there are no holes to bolt it to. I think it goes on the flat below the carbs and on top of the steering arm above the old cowl gasket. If I am right (and I don't want to be) I think I will need to pull the power head and drill and tap a couple holes for the front bracket. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any advise,
Dave Smith

Any pictures would be appreciated too.

I did that transformation a few years ago. There are some bosses on the flange under the carbs where the newer ones are drilled and tapped. I just drilled through the bosses and put bolts and nuts through it. On the rear bracket, I cut slots in the bracket holes so I could slide them under the loosened up rear bolts. I did this because I didn't want to pull the powerhead.

Thanks, sounds like a plan.
