Does anyone know if a merc 300 promax (98-99) with the single ram offshore style mid-section was ever offered with a factory installed electric trim sending unit??? I would like to hook up my dash trim gauge and the motor has no sender... currious if it was ever available for this motor???
Thanks, Jim.

Looked at my 98 300pm and I see no way to add the sender.

No place to put a electic sender, I went down that road. Call Rickracers and get a Stainless Marine indicator!! ;) Chuck.

Are you guys sure about the space? I have a 2000/280 and was thinking about adding a trim sender off my 92/200 to try. The trim unit is not that big and a quick bracket fab would probably work, right? I do not have a 300 to look at but my 280 has lots of space. I may fab a bracket on the un-used "steering wing" under the cowl pan and route the wire through the rubber pop-out above it. Surely someone has done something similar.
I have very nice trim guage in my "05" hydrostream and would prefer to use it.
Any thoughts?

Hey Chuck... thanks for the info on the sender and by the way THANKS, the motor runs GREAT! My Checkmate 21' Starflight has seen 81mph @ 5500 so far with a LOT left in it! I was having some issues with my hyd. steering so I didn't push it hard yet... hoping to see upper 80's and I'll be a happy "family boat'er" so to speak. Jim.
P.S. looks like a mechanical trim sender is the only way...

I am glad you like the engine. :) It ran great for me too. ;) Ricksracer has the trim indicator for about 275 from Stainless Marine. Give them a call, works great. Chuck.

I may just do that (I have to see what kinda dash space the mechanial ones take up and how much clearence it needs behind the dash)... Jim.

Yes mechanical or fabrication is the only way to go on a 300 with single ram offshore trim unit.
