Out of curiosity, If I run my Power-tech 3 blade or a laser2, I do not get a roosted tail at all, regardless of trim angle or jackplate height. I picked up an OMC SRX cheap, and if I want, I can get it to throw a 8 foot rooster? Also I get slight chine walk with the through hubs, that I can control. But I get zero with the SRX? thanks Lee NJ

sounds like your srx is sliipping and not lifting the bow.
This is the nature of those props. Over-hubs, such the SRX and the chopper tend to throw a bit more spray off the blades than thru hubs such as the Laser and the Trophy.
The fact is, if your rooster tail is higher than 4 or 5 foot off the water, you're wasting positive trim, throwing water in the air instead of pushing the boat forward. Quite often, using less positive trim will still yield big top end numbers, but without the flighty bow and nasty chinewalk. See my post here regarding Vegas XT running attitude: http://forums.screamandfly.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66424
If you need to trim it out to the point of throwing a rooster-tail to get it to run right, you probabaly need more setback.
If you're just throwing water because it looks cool, then dis-regard everything above. Trim it out!

Thanks guys, My boat runs its best with a shade more than neutral trim. I use the power tech for tourney fishing, and theres no rooster. I picked up the SRX cheap, and was giving it a try and noticed a much higher rooster tail. I like this prop as is gives me a better hole shot than the chopper did,and yes it is slipping. I will send it out to get a tune up. Thanks again Lee NJ

What pitch is your SRX? I've got a 27 that I run on my Vegas, and I love it. It's been worked over by DAH so it's got some extra cupping on the blade tips. It's the same way.....I can throw a big rooster tail at slow speeds if I want to....but when I run thru-hub props like a raker or shooter, they don't shoot to big of a rooster tail.
I've also heard that thru-hub props tend to lift the stern more than over-hub props. That's why the boat feels looser when running a thru-hub.
Out of all of the props that I've ran, my SRX seems to feel the most stable at high speeds.
:D
