My 200 is getting tired instead of refreshing Im thinking new motor. I want something with some balls, I am having a hard time which motor to buy a 2.5 or the big 3.0 promax. I have a 19 action now but I have always wanted a tunnel so this would motor would follow. What is your guys opinions on these two motors good or bad. I do alot of crusing and alot of high speed blasts. Not too concerned with 100mph top speed but would like it to accelerate like a rocket. Thanks in advance for your input.

Some of the new mercs would be perfect. If I was to buy a new motor for the application your doing which is very similar to mine, I would opt for one of the new merc 2.5 xs. Suppossed to run very well and good fuel economy.
my 2 cents

 or a new motor to you? i think that hull will handle anything up to a 300x, i ran one about 7 seasons, and never felt near outta control, w/a tweaked 2 liter, spent lots of time strung out in the soup. this isn't my old one is it? white deck black bottom? 84 model? i don't think that design is capable of sustained 100+ running, 80's 90's all day. 2fast has a good idea on the new 2.5xs, espically for crusing, they are supposed to alot more fuel miserly. fun out

I've got a couple new 2005 280 short shaft motors, and I can get you a 300x also. When you're ready for a tunnel, I sell those too. Best of all, I'm right over in Daytona Beach. The motor depends on what you're gonna put it on. I've been putting 300x's even on my 18ft tunnels. Click below for my website. See-ya, WILDMAN

Thanks for all the input guys I checked out the 250xs its seems pretty good but it has a 6300 rev limit isnt that a little low. I also see that you have a couple of choices for gear ratio 1.75 or 1.62 is that to help prop boat with low rev limit? Also does it have solid motor mounts? I like the idea of good fuel economy and oil injection but how do they sound I like loud open exhaust of a 2stroke. Anyone running a 250xs on their boat please tell me their experiences on how it runs. Thanks
