IMHO
My first choice would be Klotz333!
My second choice would be Penzoil 100% Syntetic! (Penz is just easier to get, you can get it at your walmart!) :D

We use the Mercury Hi PErf oil, hard to beat all the R&D, testing that they have done.

My brother owns an outboard shop and he said they are saying that a sythetic blend is better because with full synthetic your roller bearings tend to slide instead of rolling. Yea I know who the hell is they?

Choising oils is like Chevy and Ford I like 100 % syn. Pennzoil for the coated sleeve motors and Premium + in steel !

Jay refers to 2.5 liter high-performance engines.
Mercury does not recommend the use of its racing oil in the Promax 300(x), or any other 3 liter engine (or 2.5 liter fishing engine or any other fishing engine for that sake.)

Hogg,
I would use Pennzoil 100 Syn in any COMPLETELY broke in motor. When running steel bores they seem to need more breaking time on the more petrolium based stocked oils before converting to the 100% syn !
Thats all I am saying.....
