It is a real job without splitting the case halves.

i was able to do it last year. i loosened the top crank case bolts and then slightly tightened them back up. go real slow so you dont break the bearing stator carrier [$150]. you need to pry it off from 3 to 4 point preferable at the same time [helper]. go sloooooooow.

I have to do this my self me and my buddy I cant take it to the shop the mechanic is a sorry SoB he charged me 762$ to put a 40 amp stator on my motor lat year and before that when i got this motor He charged 275$ to drop the power head on and he used blue form a gasket insted of power head gaskets I found this out when I got my Alien cowl I pulled the power head off this spring and thats when I seen what he did So thats why I do my own work or I try and do my own work with the help of you good folks Thanks a bunch. I would just let her be. My leaks a little at high RPM 8500+ . Put a new one in last year it worked for about 1 day. Leaking again.
If you do it, get a little wood screw in the seal and pull it out. Better yet get a little slide hammer style seal remover with the wood screw on the end of it.
