Merc 3 Liter Lower Unit question

Blew my second 3 liter lower unit today. This one was totally rebuilt and probably doesn't have 50 hours on it. Are the Merc 3 liters noted for lower unit problems?

That is the same lower also used om the 300x motors. I have not heard on any unusual problems. Maybe the rebuild is at fault?

I had water in both of mine, had them rebuilt with wat lloked to be all new parts. Left side was full of water in less then 3 hours. Flushed it out, pressure tested and put new oring in shift shaft, back on the boat and snapped a prop shaft with in 15 minutes.
Im looking to order a new left hand rotation today.
