I'am looking at a 2005 Z71 silverado 1500 with a 4" suspension
lift 33" tires and it has a 4.10 gear ratio. The stock Z71 has a 3.42
gear ratio and smaller tires of course. I was just curious if anyone
out there had something similar or could help. The sticker on the
window says 15 city and 19 hwy before the lift etc. Any help
would be appreciated.

Thanks
Greg L.

The sheer size and rolling resistance will subtract somewhat from the potential gas mileage though.

I have a 95 Z71 with 33" tires and 3.42 gears. City mileage is 10-12 but hwy. mileage is 17-18.

I was thinking of installing 4.56 gears in the rear diff. since I have another front diff with 4.56 gears but don't want to loose alot of hwy. gas mileage.

The rolling resistance of the tires and most importantly the increased wind resistance kills ya. I would bet you would average about 13 mpg's. Not that they can really be compared, but I had an 84 chev on 35's that got 10, a 78 on 36's that got 10. a 1998 wrangler on 35x15.5's that got 8 and a 1998 cherokee on 31's that gets 15. No matter what you do once its lifted you might as well kiss gas mileage good bye. Oh yeah, and a decent ride, and decent handling, and comfort etcetc.....I need a stock vehicle again bad LOL

I have always hear with the propper rear end ratio the gas mileage shouldn't vary more than 10%

I you go and put the 33's on the z71 without doing the rear end the mileage will go way down

Just my .02

4.10's with 33's would be roughly the same as 3.42's with 31's. The stock 05 Z71, 265/70R/17, is almost a 32" tire. http://www.4lo.com/calc/geartable.htm

Like I said I have 33's, 305/70/16, with 3.42 gears and get 17-18 HWY. I have a 95 Z71. For me to get the same gear/tire ratio I'd have to go to 3.73 gear. That isn't much gear difference and not worth the money to swap out gears.

You'll probably see a bigger performance impact from the added weight of the 33's than the increased diameter.
