Picked up a BSA PD30 red dot sight for $10 bucks. Figure I'll give it a try on one of my plinking pistols for kicks. If it don't work, then it'll get tossed on Ebay. Anyone have experience with this?

I have one on my SKS it works pretty good. But nothing like the E-otec sight on my AR-15

It'll go on a Contender pistol. Didn't think about putting on a rifle. Sounds like fun huh? I've got an older Marlin 22 with Simmons 3x9x32 thats awesome at range. Kinda afraid to swap them out but might have to try it.

Stok I aint tryin to slam on ya, but you asked for info. In 20 years of dealing optics at my bros place I can tell you that BSA is about as big a POS as has ever been putforth on the American consumer. We actually had less trouble from cheap brands like Tasco and Simmons than we did with BSA. Their return rate was HORRENDOUS! Again, DON'T shoot the messenger. If all you are going to do is put the scope on a rimfire then you'll probably be ok. But you said Contender so I assume its a centerfire caliber of notable recoil. Bigbore pistols are HELL on scopes so do yourself a favor and come off the pocket for something like a Burris or Leupold if you want something that will last for decades without any problems and can be handed down too your kids/grandkids. Fogging/leaking and zero retention problems will haunt you with the cheaper stuff. I've even seen brand new BSA's that had the crosshairs blown out of them with the first shot when mounted on large pistols and deer caliber rifles. We ONLY sold such items because customers asked for them, they bought them against our warnings that the things probably WOULD give them problems! Some people  (And I AINT lumpin you in that group because you asked before the fact!)
Good luck,
RA

Bud, you're not hurting my feelings one bit:) This is a 10 dollar scope that I later found retailed for about $35 new. That says enough about it.
Yes, when talking about the Contender, plan was to use this scope on the 22 mag barrel. Merely for getting a quick sight picture and squeeze. Nothing center fire.
After your feedback, if someone wants it, drop me a line. Don't know what mounts it came with but I'll sell it for whats in it.
