I was changing filters the other day on my twin Drag motors and after I changed the two std. Mercury water seperator filters and then it was time to change the filters on the twin Weldon fuel pumps that are have Kinsler filters on them.

My question is, DCB (Dave's custom boats) put stainless steel screen filters in them and Kinsler told me that the stainless screens are for alky motors and I should have their paper elements in mine. I asked Kinsler "maybe they put the screens in because of the premix" he said he would have no idea.

Will these filters get plugged from the the Klotz 333 @ 32:1 that I use?
I bought the paper elements based on kinsler rec. and have not ran the motors yet.

Use the paper filters! The stainless ones are NOT fine enough.

K & N makes a filter with a stainless steel screen that has a 10 micron rating and is supposed to be a high volume unit. It's cost a bit more but it can be taken apart and cleaned.

Don't get raped buying those Kinsler filters .... I have used the 33093 WIX for years on EFI race motors with GREAT luck ! $7.00 ea. at NAPA and change often. ( It came stock on a early model Caddy with a High Pressure Fuel Pump )

BTW : The 33093 will come with a fuel barb on one end and a compression fitting on the other , you will have to buy the adapter once and retrofit it to the new filter at each time you replace !

Good luck

Thank you everyone, just wanted to check. I was afraid maybe the oil might plug the paper ones.

Hey Jay, what kind of inlet/outlet do those filters use? Hose barbs? AN flare? Are they 3/8" or 1/2"? Do you run them before or after the pump?

Thanks!
