Ron Collins of Canada was offered this motor a few years ago but turned it down when it was more correctly/accurately described to him as "restored with NOS parts" It may be a one owner motor, never sold by the dealer...but you do not see the fact that it probably doesn't have the factory lead seal.

Another reason Ron declined to buy it (even at a much lower price than its outrageous eBay reserve) was the fact that it was restored quite some time ago and was stored in a basement. He felt that even though it turns freely, the condition of the bearings and bores would be suspect.

This is also the third time recently this motor has been listed. It ran up considerably higher the first time and was a no sale, reserve not met.

Sam, I'm curious. Is the present seller the same one who offered it to Ron described as restored, or is this someone who bought it at that time?

Yes, this is the same seller.

Raceman is right, the 3rd time in a row, but it has been on before.

I've been keeping track, this is at least the 5th time, maybe the 6th time for this motor. Once it hit $4450...he should have sold it even though the reserve wasn't met, it has never come close since.

I think it is BEAUTIFUL, I asked the wigfe if I could get it and put it in the corner of the living room as a show piece...DENIED.

It sure is pretty, Where do you guys think it came from, some collector who died, an old warehouse ?

It didn't 'come' from anywhere. The dealer has had it for years and years. I think he may have raced it himself in the 60s and put it away when the class started dying. Then a number of years later rebuilt it and set it aside. There it sat for another decade or two.

Here is the rub...you can get one JUST LIKE IT just as pretty, fresh paint and rings from a number of collector/restorers for around $1500

5 years ago $500 would have been plenty

Frankly, at $4450 they had the decimal place off by two. Any roller bearing motor that has sat that long could have serious issues. Not that someone would run it anyway; anyone who would pay more than a few hundred bucks for it would be the person who would build a shrine to it in their living room and just worship it. If I was going to spend thousands of dollars on a motor, it sure as hell wouldn't be a 30H. But that's just me.
