OK, A GPS can be wired into a VHF unit to broadcast and receive position locations in case of an emergency I know. But the manuals and other generic resources I have been provided with don't give me specifics about which wire does what. Anyone have any idea ?

Thanks

Trippin,
I just got a new ride and have a Standard Horizon vhf radio and a lowrance gps/sonar unit combo. Standard Horizon's manuel, at least the one I have was clear on the wiring, explaining which wires went where, setting up the baud, getting the Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) number, etc.? On my unit you have to use what they call the accessory cable and hook it to the gps data cable. What vhf and gps units do you have?

p.s. From what I read you have to have a MMSI number for the DSC to work
