Forgot to ask about what we should bring food and beverage wise.Should we bring what we need and a little extra ???

Liqui-Fly

Last year my my first run at it and I learned that everyone seems to be pretty damn punctual. This year I plan to have a small arrival BBQ for everyone on Friday afternoon at the campsights which I will provide. Help on that would be great. There are a lot of stores and restaurants in the area so I don't think bringing a ton of stuff is necessary. I don't think I really ate all that much last year...maybe twice even though it rained all weekend. But I'm bringing atleast one large gas grill to the campsights that is open to everyone. Maybe you'll be able to run down in the spring to scope everything out for the event and maybe help me plan a couple more things.

Yeeeeehaaaawwww. I'm getting nervous though. We had a really mild winter two years ago then it rained all summer. It's snowing right now and I think I'm grateful. Last summer was a beauty.

That spring and summer was the worst. We've only had about 4 inches of snow so far and the ice is breakin on the lake :p

http://www.flipenterprises.com/ - this is the Inn closest (walking distance) to the Saturday evening rendezvous at Sport Island Pub

http://www.innatthebridge.com/ - this is also close to the Pub; docking available

http://www.superior.net/~lanzi/ - nice upscale restaurant with a big deck; casual

http://www.eagleshore.com/ - just some photos

http://www.ReserveAmerica.com/usa/ny/nort/ - NYS campsight; nice lakeside sights
- sights 204 to 213 recommended......214 - 216 are very good but inpossible to turn a trailer around in but with a waterfront sight you could just leave her in. I'm at 207.

I had the slowest boat. My boating consists of short burst of engine power followed by long bouts with paddle power and getting towed.

Liqui-Fly
02-11-2002, 09:45 AM
Your boat was the slowest but in theory I think you had me. Well what is it going to be this year. Everyone is being awful quite....I'd hate to order "the juice" for nothing hehe.

if i come up there i will have to make some changes cause i know salt water is more bouyant than fresh . how many boats do you expect to show up? will there be any from long island or south? are there going to be official drag races or just grudge runs? how big is the lake? :D

Liqui-Fly
02-14-2002, 08:39 AM
I don't know about any grudge matches but then again everyone is being awful quiet about their rigs this year. No drags just lots of running and hanging out on a gorgeous big lake. Scope out the Great Sacandaga Lake on www.mapquest.com. It's Got islands and a long gorgeous run up to the Conklinville damn. I'm hoping for 25 to 30 boats on Saturday but figure there will be a solid 10 to 15 the rest of the time. It rained all last year and the turn out was pretty good. Did you see the pics at www.hydrostream.org under events?

Just spoke with Hydromotive and they're really looking forward to coming out to the Rondak Romp. They have a hot new line of outboard props that are beating the ET's and handling like a dream. He said keep an eye out for a test in Bass and Walleye on an Allison.....4-blade overhub 4 mph faster than a Merc ET.

Next Door neighbor. You guys are going to like 209. You can tie up right in front of the site in a nice protected cove. If anyone has ideas please foward them. The only things I'm planning is a Saturday evening banquet at the Sport Island pub (accessible by boat) and a damn run Sunday morning.

Liqui-Fly

23 days until spring. Banquet might be the wrong word. Sport Island pub has a nice room upstairs (waterfront) that I'm going to line up. Forn chow I'm gonna need input on whether we want to do an al la carte thing or buffet or eat if ya want to or drink beer instead so that's what I'll need input on. I'm thinking the simpler the better.

They are usually 2' x 2' just enough to get a set of duals on a big truck on.So ya do wheel by wheel axle by axle to get yur weight.

It's simple ;)

They drop the lake level extremely low here in the winter but they put the cork in early so she's filling fast especially over the last few days. Those pics are from two weeks ago. We're in good shape. I'm hoping to be in the second week of April.

Well- warm weather just arrived. Ran out of epoxy filler for my cowl and the store was closed yesterday.
Checked a rough price for paint and don't like it.

You might have to set the date back. June the paint might not be dry yet.

Keep forgettting I have to order seat cloth and little junk like that.

It seems like most will be arriving Friday afternoon but it is too soon to really grab numbers. I'd like to BBQ just some burgers and whatever on Friday for lunch. I could use some help with that but can't think of anything specifically. I'll grab the chow and am going to bring a good sized grill. As for the Pub on Saturday we don't need that much notice. Again a better situation with definite numbers. I need to get oput on the lake and see some of the locals to and see if they're going to join us.

Check_Mate we have to get together before the Romp. Are you almost ready to go in?

Finish the crack repair, Fill all holes in boat, flip, fix outside of crack. prime,sand- paint paint paint paint & clear. ( doing trailer at same time) Flip, prime, sand NIGHT MARE! Do the upper part of painting and interior and cowl and alluminum.
Paints finished
Re-rigg

7 hours break in.
This is the short list! And before I hear it again I need warm weather at night for both the epoxy work and painting to cure.

The fly has a pylon too but the top half of the ring snapped off. Sweet dicast stuff but since the motor is still fresh I don't think I'll tow anything. Woody we'll always be able to find some calm water for the most part...getting there can be difficult though. The best thing is to get up with the roosters and run like hell in the am and then later in the day. I hope the lake drops some more so we can go to sand island atleast one day. The rain won't drain...but there are limited dangers when the water is high...even Weekend Wally is safe hehe.

I set the rally so early in the summer because traffic is minimal up until school gets out. If it's a super nice weekend then there might be some heavy traffic on Sat. and Sun. but noone gets out there until noon and then they go park until 5 and then go home. Typical NYS lake traffic.

Guys just popping in should go to the campsite and find the 204 to 216 row. We'll all be there. My site is 207. Friday afternoon I'll be cooking lunch at the site a la carte. Get there place your order and sit back and enjoy some vacation

I've got props out the ying yang and don't be bashful about trying them.

Saturday and Sunday there are AOF knee jockey races in Wells which is about 15 miles north of the Sacandaga.....is anyone is interested.

Have safe trips and save the fast driving for the lake.

I'm paking the truck and am on my way out right now. Boat or no boat...get there. If it's leaking you'll just have to pin it.

Just got in and would like to thank everyone for coming. I need some rest and have a list of things to do waiting for me. Have video and over 100 pictures. Man what a blast and the weather was much friendlier this year. By the way today is clear blue around 80 and there was just a light ripple across the entire lake but I was out of gas and dough hehe.

There is talk of another one later in the year so those of you who couldn't get put together have no fear.

Time for a Calmine lotion bath.....ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :o

David,
This was my first boat gathering of any kind and it was a BLAST!:D Great people, great boats, great fun, and of course great speeds! A little rain didn't dampn't any sprits. Even though I was last to the dam the Checkmate started coming on in the rougher water and I was able to keep up a little better. Boy there were some fast boats there. I'll try to post some pics.
