how reliable is this engine?
would you purchase this engine w/o a warranty? i know parts aren't cheap....
specs:
2003 merc 2.5L 200 xs optimax owned by an old geezer. :D
warranty expired 10/04
ran the serial number on merc.net, no flags whatsoever. totally clean.
146 hrs, 74 of which are 1k rpm or under.
no overheat codes.
no rev limiter codes.
100 hr service done by performance marine in lake placid, Fla.
new water pump installed last saturday.
only merc optimax oil used.
my only reservation is not having a warranty. if something happens im screwed.
i know plugs are around 26 bucks ea., other than that whats the 100 hr service gonna run me.
what kinds of things can go on these motors?
