if you put a nose cone on a boat that runs high 70s will it give it more bow lift ?

Jerry I research this a little last year and it just improves the flow of the water to the prop, mainly I was told that you will loose bow lift in most of you RPM range. A stock lower unit will create more drag at lower speeds which lifts the bow (I Think?) Anyway Merc has the Sportmaster and Fleetmaster lowers, one is for boats that have a higher top end capability and one is for slower boats, say a fishing boat and a bass boat applications. Maybe someone can add to this as it’s been a year since I read up on this?

Oh, you'll get a little more speed once you hit 75 or 80 MPH. I got the Bob's Nose cone last year. I had them mount it. They did a great job!

Jerry,

At that speed you will gain some tail lift and a little drag due to the added surface area. In the old Hydrostream days I'd gain several MPHs by removing the coned case and running a stock case with a small torque tab. That was the key, get the stock case going straight with a tab and the results are very good.

Jerry didn't you already try the comparison:

Actually a longer gearcase does not increase drag if the unit is moving straight thru the water (this is why a torque tab is so important even on a stock case). This is one of the known rules of hydrodynamics "that longer will be fast". Works on ships as well as gearcases.
