Well my latch was loose being that I had just secured it 15 minutes prior to the launching of the cover at 85mph and then the sinking. What are the company's out there that make aftermarket cowlongs for the 300 pro max?

Good luck, I lost one trailering due to not latching (real stupid). I looked everywhere but could only find cowlings for the 2.5's with the bungee straps. Eagle one make them as does Wayne Taylor, but they are also bungee style cowlings. I had to end up buying it from Mercury. It was a lot more money than I thought. What a terrible way for me to learn to check the latches :(

I lost one last summer the same way capt.did. I switched to the rubber bungie latches after that incident. Luckily a buddy diver found it in 50' of water.

I thought someone here had molds for these and was making them. I should keep my mouth shut but I do have molds for the 3.0L Alien cowl. I made mine and they are a pain laying up by hand. If you get in a bind I can make them but would rather not.
I was told the 2.5L Alien will fit the 3.0L if you leave the flywheel cover off. Anyone know.

jerry just went through this , no one makes cover that will fit the original merc lower cowl . best bet is try to find a used merc cowl . new they are about 1500 bucks which is a rip off .... eagle ones cover will not fit a 300 , but you can try to call mad efi and see if his will...

Just got off the phone with Eric Simon. He says Wayne Taylor's Prorock cowl with the scoop WILL fit the 3.0L's. The scoop gives enough clearance.

I used Wayne's cowl for my 3.0 but I also used his base.

Spray a bit of PU expanding foam inside your cowl andat least it wont sink if it blows off.
All the tunnel boats that I ave seen here do this for this reason, they also spray inside the rear boat canopy with it.
