I just picked up a 21' cat and I am putting a drag on it. the boat has twin tanks. should I use a surge tank with a holly red to feed the surge tank then my bosch to the motor? or will the bosch be ok to pull right off the tanks? it has a switch to change off side to side just not sure if the bosch will like pulling hard off the 2 tanks. or if that would be looking for trouble? any help would be great. thanks mercstv

You know my opinion. Holly red to draw from tanks to feed bosch to press. injectors. I can draw a diagram of how the system should be plumbed.

The pressurized surge tank will help keep ya from starvin for fuel when your bouncing around on the big water. Unless ya like doin REBUILDS:eek:

Yes I would like to see a diagram along with where I can ge the tank and pump. I would like to reduce the chances of running lean on my 21 Skater.

Do a search on "Canton surge tank" and you will find these. If I remember correctly they are less than $100.00. Unless someone tells me different, it's what I'm going to use.

Yep, one of those tanks. Ya feed fuel in to the top barb fittin with the holley pump. And draw out of the bottom to the bosch press. pump to the injectors. Remember that the fuel return line has to go to the fuel tank, not the surge tank. This is because the return needs to go to a non-pressurised area or it will not be able to "blead off" the extra gas that was not needed. Tom/mark, on your boat because it has 2 tanks . You will need to "split" the return line with a "T" and have a in-line shut off valve on each of the returns to the tanks .So you can control which tank the returned fuel goes to. You will have to have a simmilare set-up on the feed lines from the tanks to a filter/sep. to the holley/draw pump. I would not use one of those little electric tank switch over valves on an drag motor. The valves don't flow enough fuel. There are nice large mechanical ones available but they are not cheep. 4 shut off valves are much cheeper. And you are smart enough to be able to turn off 2 valves and open 2 valves to switch from one tank to another. Later, drastic. P.S. gitter done.

The Canton tank looks nice. Feed into the side fitting, feed the EFI pump out of the bottom and return the top of the tank to the fuel tank. If ya want to get fancy you can put some restriction in the return line to the main fuel tank. You just have to make sure your EFI pump will handle the pressure on the feed side. With the Bosch pump it can use all of the help it can get over 10K rpm.:D

Merc. Looookin goood. You will be able to raise the motor a couple inches from where it's at in the pic. If that helps with the clearance of the steering. In the pic the "X" dimention is to low. Later, drastic.

Euroski, I "E"mailed ya that diagram. I hope you get it. I am new to all this scanin,E-mail, dig.pic stuff. Just got the equip. at X-mas time for me and the little woman. Call (989)422-6065, Jon. Later, drastic.

I made one for my Bass boat that I ran in lake racer. I returned the fuel from the power head into the surge tank and had an over flow line that went from the surge tank to the main tank. I just wanted to make sure that there was always fuel in the surge tank. I would put 4-5 gallons in the main tank, which was a 24 gallon tank and there was a lot of sloshing going on. No restrictions to the main tank, just free flow. Later, Jay.
