I first want to thank all the folks on the site for the information.
The boat is a 90 Velocity, 200 Pro V Yamaha that I purchased new.
A leak in the gas tank has me started on redoing the boat the way I always wanted to set it up. The cockpit deck is out and there is no rot or foam. The new tank is on it's way back from Sunhine Welding in Port Canavaral. Can anyone help with a shop or person that can do the re-regging? I am not good with the electrical. I would like add power steering and a jackplate at the same time. In closing has anyone used Hydro-Tech for engine mods?
Thanks in advance for any leads or suggestions.

Have you called Velocity directly?

They're right here in Sanford, not too far from you.

Thanks for the suggestion Ziemer.
I don't know if they would want to work on a Regal Velocity
I did speak to Marty at Diamond Marine. He wanted to help, but had a Skater and a Spectre to be rigged.
I hope some of the other guys on the web will chime in.

I don't think it would matter, that it's a Regal Velocity. When we used to have our older 30' (that was also a Regal Velocity) I talked with a Scott at the factory a few years ago numerous times that told me if we needed anything for our boat to not hesitate to call them.

I've seen a couple of older 30' Velocity's that they've re-done at their factory that I'm pretty sure were originally built at Regal.

You Guys Have To Realize That In The Beginning When Steve Stepp Signed On With Regal, He Was Overseeing The Velocitys Being Built. I May Be Wrong But It Was Only After Seeing Regal Install Inferior Products And Workmanship That Steve Stepp Bailed Out And Was Forced To Start Thoroughbred While Fighting To Get The Velocity Name Back. I Would Imagine (and I Could Be Wrong) That The First Year Or Two Of Regal Velocitys Could Be A Pretty Good Product. I Bought A 1988 Regal 230 Velocity Back Then And Loved The Boat!!

Hi Jupiter,
I have enjoyed reading about setting up your Checkmate.
My Velocity has been great. After 15 years there are no structrual cracks and I do run offshore hard at times.
With the cockpit deck off you can see the workmanship. There are some areas that I am going to clean up and try not add alot of unnecessary weight.
If anyone is interested I have some good pictures of the structrual work that I can try and post. If you want to see a marine hairball, I'll shoot a picture of the wiring!

Thanks Jupiter,

The name sounds familar. I used to live in WPB about 12 years ago. Is their work good? I will give them a call.
I also spoke with Wildman about paint and rigging. I am going to take the boat to him to check out as soon as my house guests leave.
Thanks again for the info.

Hey Velocity 72,

Sorry I have been out of touch for awhile, grinding away at 90 degrees outside. I am cleaning up some questionable structural work before the new gas tank goes in and the deck(sole).
The motor is off as I want rebrace the transom. The Regal work is pretty rough.
The plan is to get back on the water and do the interior, paint and rigging in the fall. At least the structural work will be intact.
It's hot and I am way behind!
I sent a note to your e-mail too. I will try and post or send the pictures.

Hi Jupiter,

I would like your contact for rigging. At this point I am just trying to get back in the water.
I did contact Randy in Daytona. He will rig and I have seen his paint work posted.
The rigging and paint will be a Fall project now.
On a different subject, I will try and post pictures of the factory glass work. I think you will see why Steve left Regal. Also I want everyones opinion on gaps in the glass around the top edges of the stringer system. I have been told it's from movement(flex). It be might gaps left from the factory glass work. In any case there, are no cracks in the hull. The hull itself is very nice and looks to be done with better glass and resin.
It's pouring rain. I got alot of stuff ready to glass so into the garage we go!
Thanks in advance for the info.

Z-VELOCITY, THE JOYS OF RESIN FUMES AND THE ITCH OF FIBERGLASS IN YOUR SKIN, CAN'T THINK OF A BETTER WAY TO SPEND A RAINY DAY!!! HOPE ALL IS GOING WELL WITH YOUR RESTORATION. SOUNDS LIKE IT WILL BE EVEN BETTER THAN WHEN IT LEFT THE REGAL FACTORY. ;)

Hey Jupiter,

Yes it's been a good day. I got all of my grinding taped and glassed. I still have a ways to go.
I am new to this epoxy stuff, but it went well today. The first time I mixed and tried to use the epoxy it was 90 degrees and the stuff went off in 10 minutes. The mix melted the tray and there was smoke rising!
Today with the AC it was " Let's hurry and wait".
Let me know your friend that does rigging. I want get in touch for part 2 in the fall.
PS you are right, 3 Heinekens and all's well.
Take care
