Ok, just a little what if!
What would you do to turn a merc v6 into a fire breathing monster. The engine only has to live for one race, say... less than an hour!
The boat, a light tunnel (S2000/ SST120 boat)
:D :D :D
PS: carb motor, no laughing gas!

A circle burner or roundy round would need to have a wider RPM range to make power and should be able to Rev up and down as fast as possible. Being able to get to and stay at that HP as long as possible do to the complete package set up.Handle ,driving style, power range all have to become one.Thats my circle burner advise after many years of going around in circles in cars. I would think that a drag motor could have a lot lighter parts inside do to the fact its a few second run and its over.In a drag motor that one only wanted to make a single pass with seems like ultra light, ultra lean, and ultra high RPM, Ultra high compression, would be the hot ticket to build a 10 second gernade. Just my idea Im sure that everyone wont agree Joe R

I quarter mile drag an sst 120 with a mod 260 and a #4 speedmaster. It turns 10,000 rpm in the quarter, 107 mph at half track and 118 mph out the back end running around 9.4 seconds. Not many trick things in the motor only a lightened flywheel and porting by Jim Ruck. This year I'm trying a Wayne Taylor ECU and 3 pitches higher on the prop. Out the gate it turns 7500 rpm with the engine off. It's a 16' sst 120 composite boat. Hope this helps, Tom.
