The shift spline won't line up and when I do get them lined up foward, neutral and reverse all messed up need advise guys.
Thanks,
Tom Schwartz
tom,
Since no one else has chimed in yet (hopefully someone will), here is my $.02. make sure LU is in neutral. line up the fitting on the top of the shift shaft to point straight forward towards the front of the boat. use a thin screwdriver to guide the shaft over the splines and push the LU up. you might have to jiggle te shaft a bit to make it seat all the way.

Being sure both the gearcase and shifter are in forward gear will make this simpler.

The seel in tha crank shaft haz fell out when ya took off tha geercase...U will have to make a tool to put it back in, or pull tha powerhead and replace it...I do tha NO-NO and thro tha trouble make'in sumbich away befo I put tha powerhead on...If U greese tha shaft wit waterproof greese, I see no practical purpose for it except make ya greyheaded try'in ta stab tha geercase when it fallz out!!!...REX

You will also need to make DANG sure that your pick-up tube is lined up!
You probably already know this but,,,, You should have somebody turn your fly wheel to help line up the Drive shaft splines too! ;)
